What began as a gift became a journey back into memories of my youth.
I was an anime fan long before anime became widely known and accessible in Germany. I read manga and immersed myself in these fantastic worlds. Then came RTL2, which became a defining part of my afternoons and introduced me to characters and stories that stayed with me.
Among them was ShenLong, the mighty dragon whose presence accompanied the characters on their journeys, their wishes and their transformations. To me, he became more than a creature capable of granting wishes. He represented something that seemed to move beyond boundaries, through worlds, dimensions, space and time.
That image remained alive in my imagination. Years later, I wanted to breathe some of that same fire into my own Dragonheart.
Although the painting was originally intended as a gift, it was never given, and the work itself remained. Perhaps that is exactly how it was meant to be.
For now, I enjoy having it in exactly the right place, where, for a brief moment, sunlight shines through the prismatic window film and brings the wish to ShenLong to life in rainbow colors.
