This painting began after I had seen a technique used in feather paintings somewhere else and wanted to try it myself. I tried to bring this idea of feathers and harmony into my own work. Abstract feathers.
But I felt that the painting was not mine. It looked empty to me and seemed to say nothing.
A few weeks later, during a therapy session, I was asked to paint an image of anger. I immediately felt that it had to be this painting. To me, it still felt almost unpainted, because despite all the colors and feathers, it reflected nothing of my inner world.
So, with Rock ’n’ Roll playing, AC/DC and Kansas included, I let my anger run free. Yes, I really do have painting sessions with exactly these energetic songs, but I usually prefer instrumental music and songs with a happy vibe.
Pure emotion without conscious action, brought onto the painting.
I left it exactly as it was and began to see how many elements had actually emerged from the chaos inside me. They had found their own way without me consciously repainting or defining a single brushstroke.
Even today, years later, my family and I still discover new elements within it that parts of my subconscious brought to the surface.
